Dumpster rental guide

What Cannot Go in a Dumpster?

Check the material before loading. These are Kennedy & Sons rental rules; ask us about anything uncertain before your delivery.

Keep these materials out

  • Paint, chemicals, and hazardous waste
  • Asbestos or suspected asbestos-containing material
  • Propane tanks
  • Batteries
  • Liquids
  • Unapproved tires
  • TVs, monitors, or electronics unless approved

Never load asbestos or suspected asbestos-containing material. Keep uncertain items separate and contact us before adding them to the container.

Ask first about items needing special handling

Tell us about mattresses, box springs, appliances, tires, TVs, monitors and other electronics before booking. A listed extra charge does not by itself approve an item for your load. We need to confirm acceptance, handling and any charge.

Generally accepted materials still need a suitable load

  • Construction debris
  • Household cleanouts and junk
  • Wood and drywall
  • Roofing materials
  • Light demolition waste

Describe the actual materials, including anything unusually heavy. Acceptance can depend on the receiving facility and the need for separate handling. Ask before loading concrete, soil, liquids, pressurized containers or anything not clearly covered by the rental rules.

What to tell us when you are unsure

Give the item or material name, the approximate quantity and whether it is mixed with other debris. If you do not know what a material is, say so. Wait for guidance before loading it.

Load within the container limits

Keep everything below the top wall and distribute weight safely. Volume and weight are separate limits. The receiving facility and scale weight determine final acceptance and tonnage; overloaded or unsuitable loads may need adjustment.

Read the rental and safety information and the rental terms shown with your booking. Massachusetts also publishes waste-disposal guidance; contact us to confirm how an item should be handled for your rental.
